WELCOME TO THE MYTH
OF THE NETHERREALM

FROM where spawned such beings as the oni duo, Drahmin and Moloch, the sorcerer
Quan Chi, the fallen elder god Shinnok, the demons as Sareena, Kia,Jataaka and Ashrah, the ninja spectre Scorpion,
the Brotherhood of Shadow, Noob Saibot, the being Ermac, and the animated dead. Known to only the most vile and evil beings,
where oni and demons ram the 5th planes, in searcgh of damned souls to torment, and the sorcerers take care not to venture
to the lower planes and wastelands, wghich drain their magical powers. A walled city keeps out zombies and oni. Whan the animated
dead venture into the city, they are brutally flayed, sliced, decapitated, or tortured to death by the guards, who wear spikey,
pointy armor and carry long swords. The monsters outside are forced to live without mortal flesh to feed on.
Mmmmm.....Mortal flesh....
And hideous klows of sorcery such as Ermac,
are created by fusing the souls of dead warriors into one, along with Montrous clones and
mix-breeds. The inhabbits of the city speak in some backwards-Russian-like language, and there voices sound like four different
voices saying the same thing at the sAME time. They dress in red, and all they eat is meat. The town was founded by sorcerers
as an oasis from the wastelands, and every now and then they take advantage of not havong their powers drained by doing weird
rituals. Here is one attempting to summon the Dead Man on Randy Orton:

The Netherrealm appears to be, like Outworld, a realm composed of different layers. In the Mortal Kombat
universe, deceased souls or entities who have committed major crimes descend into the Netherrealm to undergo endless torture.
In fact, one cannot enter the Netherrealm without being evil or having a tainted soul. It is described as 'the darkest region
of reality', and is inhabited by demons, monsters and beings of the purest evil.
Though exits from and entrances to
the Netherrealm are very limited for obvious reasons, the world had quite a tumultuous history. Millions of years ago, the
fallen Elder God Shinnok was banished there. After ages of imprisonment, he was able to break free, deposing Lucifer in the
process. He restructured the realm to bear some resemblance to Earthrealm, the world which he had long desired to make his
own. He later used it as a staging ground for the invasion of Edenia, but found himself cast into the depths of the realm
again after this invasion was foiled. The abandoned war machines of Shinnok were then put to good use by one of his former
acolytes, Noob Saibot.
In a generic sense, many demons and spectres are native to the Netherrealm in that human beings
can be transformed into them when their essences descend into hell, but it is unclear if the Netherrealm hosts any original
life. It should also be noted that the inhabitants of this realm look more human than they are, because the realm's magical
nature conceals their demonic features. Once they leave the Netherrealm however, they may start to decompose and rot. Like
residents of Chaosrealm, some of the Netherrealm's inhabitants tend to speak backwards.
A specific subset of demons,
the Oni, is thought to be native to the Netherrealm. They vary a lot in terms of appearance, stature and color, as is evident
in Drahmin and Moloch, and appear to be unable to communicate with other life forms. Their prime state of being appears to
be one of unquenchable rage. | Currently it is without a ruler, but it's Hell for crying out
loud! It's nothing but chaos and suffering. CHAOS AND SUFFERING
ARENAS.

Oni/Demon: The main residents of this realm are Oni. Some oni are created when a soul filled with such great evil enters
the realm that their body and mind are twisted. Others are born and breed there. With the help of magic they can take on human-like
appearances, however this does not normally last outside the Netherrealm without some form of help. Their appearence varies
from bulky brutes to skinny creatures. They mostly are covered with horns and their skin colouring can be anything from dull
grey/blue through to flesh coloured. Their lifespan is unknown, though they might be ageless. Drahmin is no exception. With
his right arm completely encased within an iron club, he eagerly crushes his opponents to dust. You must learn to use this
rage to your advantage. The torturous environment of the 5th plane of the Netherealm can twist any being
into a vicious monster. Such is the story of Drahmin, the Oni Tormentor. Once a mortal man, he was banished to this unforgiving
realm and forgotten for ages. He is no longer the being he once was.now he's this
Undead: Damned souls who are leaft wondering the 5th plains of the netherrealm, who Shinnok had punished these being for
displeasing Shinnok. It is the duty of the guards in town to throw any out who manage to get in. These lifless zombies walk
aimlessly through the realm, attacking all who approach.
Wraiths: Wraiths come from the Netherrealm, they are said to be souls filled with rage at the living for crimes committed
against them before their death. They are mostly wildcards, having the ability to escape from the realm to gain revenge on
the living who did them wrong.
Spectres: Is a cursed soul that resides in the netherrealm and can transverse to other realms e.g Scorpion. Also they
can utilize the forces of the netherrealm. However only in this realm, they are most strongest since its where they draw most
of its power. The MK definition of what a specter looks like is hard to explain. Scorpion appears as a man with a fleshless
skull head, but that could be because of the way he died.
Demon-A tormenting creature from the bowls of Hell. They can disguise themselves with human
forms.
Bloody Skeleton/Putrid Corpse-Inhabits of the Netherrealm, these skinless craetures wander aimlessly
in packs, vomitting blood. When harmed or near detah, these creatures can compulse themselves, and then in a groan and
a spray of blood explode.
SCORPION
Hanzo Hanasashi was once the proud Shiara Ryu ninja. The sorcerer Quan Chi hired
to acguire a map. He also hired the ninja Sub Zero, who was from the rival Lin Kuei. They ended up finding it at the same
time, so they dueled. Hanzo lacked skills and died pleading as Sub Zero tore off his head and spine. To thank Sub Zero
for his work, Quan Chi murdered the rest of Hanzo's family and clan. Scorpion reemerged in the Netherrealm, where
Quan Chi convinced him that his nemisis(Quan Chi's nemisis) Sub Zero had MURDERED him. The demons allowed him to return to
earth and avenge his death. Scorpion tracked down and killed Sub Zero(the one who would later become Noob Saibot)in
the Mortal Kombat tournament. The price he paid was high, for he lost the one chance he had of knowing his family and clan. In
the next tournament, he learned of the ninja's return. He see's Sub Zero spare the life of his opponent and realizes this
is not the real Sub Zero that he is looking for. He spare's the ninja's life and discover's a new purpose for his exsistence.
He become's Sub Zero's guardian toattone for killing his brother.Scorpion learned
more about the death of his family from Quan Chi. According to Quan Chi, who Scorpion apparently trusted, the younger
Sub-Zero was the one responsible. Scorpion aided Shinnok so that he could eventually meet Sub-Zero again and make him
pay. At the end of the events of MKG, Scorpion and Sub-Zero clashed for the final time. Scorpion won once more and
taunted that he could finally rest now that his family's killer was going to be dead. But Sub-Zero groggily proclaimed
his innocence. Somehow Scorpion believed him, and Quan Chi himself verified it. Scorpion was told that he was nothing but
a pawn to kill both of the Sub-Zero brothers and that he was no longer needed. Quan Chi banished Scorpion back to the fifth
plain of the Netherealm, but Scorpion rushed Quan Chi and grabbed onto him. When the spell had taken effect, both Scorpion
and Quan Chi were standing together in the pits of the Netherealm. TOASTY!

ASHRAH
Contrary to her angelic appearance, Ashrah is actually a demon from the Netherealm. She used to be a member of Quan Chi's Brotherhood of the Shadow, which worships the fallen
Elder God Shinnok. One day Ashrah refused to execute one of Quan Chi's orders. As a consequence, he sent her sister (a fellow
member of the Brotherhood of Shadow) to kill her. While escaping her would-be assassin in the Netherealm, she found a holy
sword known as Kriss . As she learned how to wield the blade, and slaying the evil denizens
with it that occupy these nether regions, Ashrah began to recognize that with each demon she slew, the sword progressively
cleansed her spirit of evil. She then resolved to liberate herself from her inherent malevolent nature by using the Kriss
to eliminate the evil within her. Each demon that she slays will bring her closer to her goal of purification, and lights
her eventual exit from the Netherealm. Because of her goal to become a good being, she has allied herself with Shujinko and regards Noob Saibot, a fellow Netherealm denizen and powerful demon, as
an enemy.
ERMAC
When he began his invasion of earth, Shao Kahn created Ermac by fusing together the souls of many great warriors,
he then placed Ermac under mind control, finding his vast skill and telekinetic powers of use. Ermac served as one of Shao
Kahn's greatest warriors, and one of the few of his higher officers to survive the invasion. However, after Shao Kahn's defeat,
Ermac remained under his control, and without instructions, he wandered Outworld as a mindless warrior.
During events of MKDA , Ermac was found by the blind swordsman, Kenshi , and was freed from the mind control that
was placed upon him. To show his gratitude, Ermac taught Kenshi the art of telekinesis, specifically the "Telekinetic Slam",
a move they share in Mortal Kombat: Deception.
Because Ermac has been freed by Kenshi, he is also free to choose his own destiny. He decides to repent his earlier ways
and makes a decision to be a force of good. Upon making this decision, he meets a warrior soul who, like Kenshi, understood
his suffering. This warrior soul was Liu Kang, and was in need not only of another ally, but also in need of assistance to
free his enslaved comrades. Ermac was eager to help Liu Kang, as this was an opportunity to help him atone for the evil he
had committed in Shao Khan's name. Ermac decided to help Liu Kang, and thus became a warrior that would protect all that is
good.
NOOB SAIBOT
From the darkest of all realms, the Netherealm emerges the dark and evil Noob Saibot, whom is considered by many to be the master of shadows. However, despite being a wraith,
his origins show that he was something else before becoming what he is today. Before his death, he was the proud Lin Kuei
warrior named Sub Zero who contained a seed of evil within his soul. Before his death, he would be told by Quan Chi that
he could become fully tainted to evil once he was killed, and true to his word, he was- after his death at the hands of the
ninja spectre Scorpion. While nothing about Sub-Zero's death was known at the time, he would be sent to the Netherealm and
the evil seed was unleashed, stripping him off everything "human". Gaining no memories of his former life, and even losing
his powers of ice, Sub-Zero the elder became the evil wraith known as Noob Saibot.
Noob Saibot's title of being the "Master of Shadows" stems from the fact that he sports the powers of a shadow, plus his
shadowy ablities. This is also to match the true and pure evil he has in his soul.
Lately, his latest accomplishment was to reprogram Smoke and use him as a template to create an army of Cyber Demons,
as well as to also make Smoke a force of evil as well. Sub-Zero (Noob Saibot's younger brother), upon discovering his brother's
true identity and his plot, vowed to stop his evil brother from corrupting the realms.
ONI DUO.
The two Oni known as Moloch and Drahmin could be considered as allies. Alone or together, they roam the 5th plane of the Netherealm in search of damned souls to torment. Unlike his counter part though, Drahmin was not always a demon. Centuries ago he was
human, and existed as an oppressive warlord in the Outworld. For his unspeakable crimes, he was banished to the Netherealm where his body and soul would be tortured for all eternity. As the years dragged on, he fell further and
further into insanity until his humanity was lost all together. He eventually accepted his new life and gave in to the power of the Netherealm.
Be it a blessing, or a curse, Drahmin re-emerged from the depths of hell as Drahmin: the Oni Tormentor.
Centuries have gone by and Drahmin has found and allied himself with the Oni, Moloch. While traversing the 5th plane, they
overheard the battle between Scorpion and Quan Chi and decided to investigate. Quan Chi, on the receiving end of Scorpion's beating, noticed their presence and begged for their assistance. The two Oni sprang into action and defended the sorcerer.
Unable to defeat the pair, Scorpion fled the area, leaving Moloch and Drahmin to discuss their payment with Quan Chi. The
sorcerer appeased them by agreeing to free them from the Netherealm. The thought of mortal flesh was alluring so they agreed,
and the demons led the sorcerer to an ancient structure rumoured to be a gateway to other realms.
Quan Chi studied the ruins and soon realized that it was a dormant portal, the key being Shinnok's amulet. Suddenly, Scorpion
attacked again and Quan Chi commanded his enforcers into action. Drahmin and Moloch engaged the spectre and soon realized
their means of escape, Quan Chi, was fleeing. He had opened the portal and was running towards it with Scorpion on his heels.
The two enraged oni pursued the warriors through the portal and soon found themselves in a foreign land, The Kingdom of Outworld.
Free from Hell's grasp, Drahmin and Moloch began searching for the vile Quan Chi. Angered that he tried to leave them,
they scoured the wastelands and killed any whom they encountered. They attacked the cyborg Cyrax who scared the Oni away with a bomb. Eventually, they took refuge in a forest (maybe the living forest), and fed on those
who wandered too close to its borders. Li Mei came to close to the forest but escaped through the trees. Shang Tsung found them at some point and saw a potential purpose for them; he employed them as a back-up defense against his partner,
Quan Chi. Drahmin and Moloch jumped at the chance to get their hands on the sorcerer and traveled with Tsung to his palace.
Lying in wait for their chance to strike, Scorpion showed up from nowhere. Again they fought with the spectre. Scorpion
had fought well but in the end was overwhelmed by the duo. Since the spectre was already dead, they decided to dispose of
him a different way, by throwing him into the soulnado.
It is unknown what has happened to Drahmin since them. Only time will tell their fate.

Shinnok
Shinnok's fall from grace was characterised by his lust for power and more specifically, his initial desire to take Earthrealm for himself. This desire for Earthrealm makes it seem likely that he was under the influence of the One Being. By waging war against his fellow Gods and Elder Gods, he came into violent conflict with the then young thunder god Raiden. During the final stages of this all-encompassing war, Raiden was apparently forced to choose between destroying Earth's
budding civilization, or to cede Earthrealm to Shinnok. He chose the former, and Shinnok was banished to the deepest bowels
of the inhospitable Netherealm. The civilisation destroyed was that of the future Zaterrans, Reptile's ancestors, who eventually emigrated to Zaterra.
In the Netherrealm, however, after millions of years of imprisonment, Shinnok was freed. He rebelled against that realm's
overlord, Lucifer, with the help of the necromancer Quan Chi, and quickly took over as its supreme leader. Here he started working on his second army, and devised a means to get out
of the Netherealm - he was still trapped there. In order to do so, he needed his sacred amulet. After centuries of searching,
Quan Chi eventually recovered the amulet for him.
Shinnok was reunited with his sacred amulet, but it would only be in his possesion for a short time. The Earthrealm mortal
Sub-Zero (the elder) had entered into the Netherealm at the command of Lord Raiden to recover what was stolen. Sub-Zero succeeded
in his mission and returned the artifact to Earthrealm. Shinnok was left to find other means of escape.
His time in the Netherealm was well spent, having built an impressive power base consisting of a fanatical cult called
the Brothers of the Shadow which was dedicated to his worship and led by Noob Saibot. He had also assured himself of the devotion of Tanya, a high-ranking semi-official of Edenia. During the foiled invasion of Earthrealm by Shao Kahn, Shinnok had ordered Noob Saibot to spy on these events and eventually side with the Earthrealm warriors. After all, with
the realms divided and weakened, Shinnok would be able to conquer them easier. Also, Shao Kahn had unsuccessfully attempted
to invade the Netherealm, which Shinnok saw as a sign that the emperor was getting too much power. Shinnok's first target
was Edenia. After successfully posing as a group of refugees, Shinnok and his most important generals, aided by Tanya, were
allowed entrance to Edenia. Immediately, he seized this opportunity to bring in a full-scale invasion force, and capture both
queen Sindel and princess Kitana.
Unfortunately for Shinnok, however, his newfound empire was short-lived, although his devastating war, reaching into the Heavens themselves, was initially going well. Although Shinnok
had loyal allies, his most important ally, Quan Chi, proved to be in possession of the real amulet, leaving Shinnok duped
with a duplicate, and to make matters worse, Raiden and an elite band of warriors managed to penetrate Shinnok's defences
and defeat him.
As Shinnok faced Liu Kang in the final showdown, he was viciously defeated by the Shaolin Monk and was sent back to the
Netherealm, for good.
Sareena
Sareena is a demon who first appeared in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero as a non-playable boss character. She is from the Netherealm and a former assassin for Quan Chi but turned against him. Her young and beautiful appearence hides her true form of a hideous demon. In the past, she required
Quan Chi's magic to sustain her human form, but since recently escaping the Netherealm, she has managed to find a way to remain
beautiful without Quan Chi. She currently has a neutral alignment, since her motives for the most part remain unknown. In
Mythologies, there was also a briefly hinted love interest between Sareena and the elder Sub-Zero. The demon Sareena first appeared in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero as one of Quan Chi's personal assassins. She and her two partners, Kia and Jataaka, were ordered to kill Sub-Zero before he reached Quan Chi. They were defeated, but Sub-Zero strangely spared Sareena's life.
Later, as Sub-Zero battled Quan Chi, Sareena suddenly appeared and helped him defeat the sorcerer. After expressing her desire
to escape the Netherealm with him, she is shot in the back with a bolt of energy by Shinnok. She collapses into an enraged Sub-Zero's arms and appears to die.
It is later revealed in that Sareena was not killed by Shinnok's attack, but rather her human form was destroyed. Her essence
was then banished to the 5th Plane of the Netherealm as punishment for her betrayal, where she would suffer for years. After
years of being trapped, Sareena discovered the portal Quan Chi and Scorpion used to escape the Netherealm shortly before the Deadly Alliance. She went through the portal and is transported to Outworld where she later discovered a way to restore her human form without Quan Chi's magic by absorbing the energy of the realm.
Shortly after regaining her human form, Sareena encountered the younger brother of the Sub-Zero she met years before. Feeling
he owed her for helping his brother, Sub-Zero granted her sanctuary with the Lin Kuei back on Earthrealm. It is believed she accepted his offer and is currently hiding on Earth with the Lin Kuei. However, Sub-Zero has been warned
that there is risk that comes with trusting a demon from the Netherealm.
Word to the wise: Smoke did not come from the netherrealm, but allied with Noob.
SMOKE
Smoke is a tragic character in the Mortal Kombat series. He was first introduced in Mortal Kombat II as a mysterious ninja who was non-playable. Later however, he became a tortured, human soul trapped in the body of a cyborg. His most defining feature is the fact that he constantly seems to emit a smoke or vapor. This, and his power to teleport
and turn invisible, formerly made him one of the Lin Kuei's top assassins.
Official debut
Smoke debuted in Mortal Kombat II as a hidden character to fight against. He was often spotted in the Living Forest stage in which he (along with Jade) peeked out of the trees. Like Reptile when he made his appearence, he was simply a grey clad version of Scorpion that emitted puffs of smoke out of his body, had Reptile's Fighting Stance and had Sub-Zero's win pose. Smoke would not have his own personality until he was featured in Mortal Kombat 3, where he was once again a hidden character, but was now a playable one this time.
Alignment
Good (despite being reprogrammed by Noob Saibot
Storyline
Smoke started out as a ninja assassin of the Chinese Lin Kuei clan. He was a friend and ally of the younger Sub-Zero, and had gone with him to Outworld on his mission to kill Shang Tsung. They did not accomplish their mission. When Sub-Zero and Smoke returned to the Lin Kuei, they discovered that their clan
had chosen to transform their best warriors into cyborgs, already performing the procedure on Cyrax and Sektor. Smoke and Sub-Zero turned on their clan and fled. Sub-Zero managed to escape, but Smoke was captured and converted into
a cybernetic warrior. Under the programming of the Lin Kuei, Smoke was forced to hunt for his old friend.
During the events of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Smoke's fortunes continued to fail him. He was captured by Shao Kahn's warriors, after his invasion into Earthrealm. It is unknown if either Kahn, Sub-Zero or the Lin Kuei were aware that Smoke, in fact, still possessed a soul and was one
of Raiden's chosen warriors. In any case, Smoke was transported to Outworld as a trophy and was locked away in the bowels of one of Kahn's
fortresses. In a state of hopelessness and misery, Smoke shut himself down.
Nearly a decade later, however, he was discovered by Noob Saibot. He reactivated the cyborg, whose nanotechnology set about repairing and improving his systems. Reprogramming Smoke to obey
only him, Saibot turned the cyber-ninja into both his ally and template for a future army of cyber-demons that was to rise
from the Netherealm. Although he appeared to follow orders blindly from his new master, it has been hinted at that a part of his soul and good
nature still remains, as evidenced by the game ending of Ashrah. It's hinted that Smoke will probably fight on the side of Earth's warriors and alongside his friend and ally, Sub-Zero in
the next Mortal Kombat conflict.
Alignment
As Noob Smoke, they are both classified as Evil.
Separately, Smoke is considered to be good and Noob Saibot evil

Kombat Highlights
- Mortal Kombat Deception's Sub Bosses
History
Noob Saibot and Smoke both were Lin Kuei operatives during their lives, with Smoke being the close friend of Noob Saibot's
younger brother Sub-Zero (as it was later discovered, Noob Saibot was formerly Sub-Zero the Elder, who died at the hands of Scorpion). During Sub-Zero's journey from regaining the Amulet that he stole and had given to Quan Chi, he was told by the dark sorceror that he will upon death descend to the pits of the Netherealm because his soul contains a dark, evil seed that will be unleashed upon him through death. True to his word, Sub Zero was
consumed by this evil after his death at the hands of Scorpion, and from there he became Noob Saibot - the dark shadow who
served Quan Chi, Shinnok and Shao Kahn during his existence.
Smoke was the close friend of Sub-Zero the Younger and had volunteered to embark on Sub-Zero's mission during the events
of the second Mortal Kombat tournament. While Sub-Zero did not succeed in accomplishing his task, Smoke and Sub-Zero returned
to the Lin Kuei to find that two of their top ninjas Cyrax and Sektor were already automated to be cybernetic ninjas and Sub-Zero and Smoke were the next two in line. Refusing to do so, Smoke
and Sub-Zero attempted to escape; Sub-Zero escaped, but Smoke was captured and automated. Smoke would forever be trappped
in his artificial body.
During the events of Mortal Kombat 3, Sub-Zero fled the Lin Kuei and joined the rebellion against Shao Kahn's forces. Smoke, having being programmed to destroy
his old partner, regained his memory and helped Sub-Zero defeat his cybernetic foes. Smoke was believed to have continued
battling with Sektor while Sub-Zero reprogrammed Cyrax to go after Shao Khan instead of him. Somewhere down the line, Sub-Zero
and Smoke were once again separated and Smoke was captured by Shao Kahn's extermination squads and imprisoned in the depths
of Kahn's Outworld fortress. During this time, Smoke shut himself down, believing that he would never escape.
Then, during the final events of Deadly Alliance, Noob Saibot found Smoke's inactive body in a cell. Noob Saibot set him
free from his imprisonment and reactivated him, making him a force of evil. Smoke's advanced nanotechnology was to reshape
and reform his body in which he would become more updated. It is believed that one of his updates was to learn the fighting
sytle of Mit Zu. Nonetheless, the partnership of Noob Smoke was followed where Smoke blindly followed and obeyed Noob Saibot's
command. Much like the past, Noob Saibot is unaware that Smoke has overcome certain obstacles before, especially where they
relate to his body and to many, it is just a matter of time before Smoke regains his memory and turns on Noob Saibot.
Alternate Endings
Noob Smoke's ending states that Sub-Zero had been following the duo and was easily captured by Smoke. In his first act
as ruler of the Netherealm, Noob Saibot ordered Smoke to assist him in slaying his brother.
Ashrah's ending indicates Smoke's good side as he was unable to assist Noob Saibot in battling her in the netherrealm.
Noob Saibot faces Ashrah alone and is easily defeated.
Misconceptions of Noob-Smoke's Ending
Noob-Smoke's ending is unlikely to affect the overall Mortal Kombat storyline, and assumes that Sub-Zero can enter the
Netherrealm, where only those tainted by evil can enter.
It is more unlikely that Noob Saibot would kill his younger brother, primarily because Sub-Zero is of no concern to him
also. Being since he was stripped of all things "human", that would also indicate that he was also stripped off his memory
too. Therefore, he wouldn't have known that Sub Zero was his younger brother.
Sub-Zero himself wouldn't have known that Noob Saibot is his older brother too, because not only has he not seen his brother
in so long, he would not recognise him- esspecially when, in Noob Smoke's ending, Noob Saibot is shown in his alternate costume
in which he is all black.
In the reality of the game, Sub-Zero is a well established character and is prehaps the most popular Mortal Kombat character
in the franchaise. Seeing this as a fact, Midway is unlikely to kill off Sub-Zero due to the popularity he has gained from
the fans over the years.
Regardless of what happens, fans believe that Noob Smoke's ending (along with Hotaru's ending) is a extension of the "what if" theory (in which the Mortal kombat series are no stranger to)
For the fates of Noob-Saibot and Smoke, it's highly anticipated that the two could be forces of light once more. Smoke's
soul is anticipated to have overcome his reprogrammings (like he has done before) and turn on Noob Saibot, thus joining Sub-Zero
and the forces of light. Much anticipation also exists for Noob Saibot as well, mainly over the fact that if he is original
Sub-Zero, he could eventually become redeemed and change his alignment from Evil to Good in a manner resembling Darth Vader in the Star Wars saga. However, Noob Saibot would be much of an anti-hero (much like Scorpion).
If Noob Saibot doesn't change his alignment in the next Mortal Kombat game but Smoke does, it could be anticipated
that the two would engage in Mortal Kombat. Sub-Zero however, could also have an impact on the Noob-Saibot situation, as he
has vowed to stop his evil brother from corrupting the realms" in what could be the true battle of the brothers.
Kia
Quan Chi

Five hundred years ago, after Goro defeated the Shaolin warrior Kung Lao, Shang Tsung took possession of his soul, learning the location of the amulet of Shinnok. Tsung traded this information with Quan Chi. In return, Quan Chi would help to revive Sindel and enable Shao Kahn to take control of Earthrealm. Although Shao Kahn's takeover failed, it gave Quan Chi the opportunity to make his move.
Before the last Mortal Kombat tournament, the sorceror proposed a deal with the Lin Kuei - he would destroy the
Lin Kuei's rival clan, the Shirai Ryu ninja, in exchange for the assistance of one of their warriors. At the same time, he
made a deal with the Shirai Ryu to wipe out the Lin Kuei should their ninja succeed. Quan Chi convinced Sub-Zero to retrieve the amulet of Shinnok for him. The ice ninja did so, not aware of Quan Chi's motives. In the process, Sub-Zero killed Hanzo Hasashi, a Japanese Shirai Ryu ninja who had also been hired for the job in the case that Sub-Zero failed. After Hasashi's defeat, Quan Chi had the Shirai
Ryu destroyed in accordance with his deal (one of the few deals he upheld). Sub-Zero was told of the deception by Raiden, and he fought his way into the Netherealm to undo his mistake. There he met Scorpion, the new identity of Hasashi. Sub-Zero retrieved the amulet, forcing Quan Chi to find other methods of freeing the fallen
elder god.
Quan Chi made a major power grab by helping Shinnok defeat Lucifer, lord of the Netherealm, and thus became arch sorcerer. When he finally gained the power of Shinnok's amulet, Quan Chi made
a duplicate so that he could free Shinnok but retain the ability to destroy him. Quan Chi felt though that he would need a
vengeful warrior to defeat the younger brother of the original Sub-Zero. So, Quan Chi told Scorpion that Sub-Zero had killed
his family and allowed him access to the outer realms once again. As Scorpion prepared to finish Sub-Zero, Quan Chi appeared
and revealed that he was the actual murderer. Enraged, Scorpion grabbed him as the sorceror made a move to send the ninja
to the Netherealm, thus trapping both of them. In the Netherealm, Quan Chi was tortured by Scorpion until the oni Drahmin
and Moloch found them. The Oni protected Quan Chi from Scorpion, and in return, Quan Chi (unintentionally) brought them
back with him when he escaped the Netherealm.
Quan Chi then formed his alliance with Shang Tsung, known as the Deadly Alliance . Quan Chi would open a soulnado to
the heavens, providing Tsung with infinite souls, and Tsung would help him power the army of the Dragon King. Together, Shang
Tsung and Quan Chi planned absolute conquest of all realms. But first, they had to eliminate Shao Kahn and Liu Knag. Shang
introduced Quan Chi to Kahn, pledging his loyalty. They then sprang their attack, killing Kahn and gaining the support of
his general, Kano. They then headed to Earthrealm, where Quan Chi helped Tsung to take Liu Kang's soul.
In a desperate measure, Raiden and Earthrealm's heroes went to Outworld to face the Deadly Alliance, but all were defeated.
Quan Chi and Tsung battled Raiden in in front of the Soulnado. They defeated Raiden, and then turned on each other. Quan Chi
apparently won, but could not savour his victory: Onaga, the Dragon King, entered the chamber, and the Deadly Alliance tried
to stop him. Even with Raiden aiding them, they could not stop him. Raiden released his essence in a blast that destroyed
the tomb, but Onaga stood, unharmed. Quan Chi is believed to be dead, though he was seen running away during the final moment's
before the blast.
